BEGINNING BALLET

This is a true beginning ballet class, covering basics and foundations for those who are either new to dance or seeking a refresher! Class follows a 4-week cycle, starting at the beginning of each month and building over the course of 4 weeks. TUESDAYS 6:45-8:00

Performance opportunity for KDA’s adult students! A ballet piece will be choreographed by the Instructor of the class preceding to be presented as a family friendly performance. TUESDAYS 8:00 - 8:30 | JAN 21- APRIL 8 | PERFORMANCES APRIL 11-13

PERFORMANCE OPPORTUNITY FOR ADULT DANCERS:

ABOUT: Any adult taking Tuesday Beginning Ballet regularly is welcome to participate in KDA’s performance opportunity for our adult students! A ballet piece will be choreographed by instructor Jennifer Gage preceding to be presented as a family friendly performance. 

PERFORMANCE DATES: April 11-13, exact dates and times TBD. There will be 2 performances over this weekend. Performances will be held at Ballet Hawaii's studio theater.  We are super excited to be inviting KDA adult dancers to participate with Ballet Hawaii's adult dancers.

REHEARSAL TIME: 30 minutes directly after class, weekly. Students must take class prior consistently to participate in the performance. Class will serve as warm up, technical skill, and tie in with the choreography that will be worked on in the rehearsal. Rehearsals begin Tuesday, January 21, 8-8:30pm.

Fee to Participate:  $125 + cost of classes. Participation fee covers the cost of creating and coordinating rehearsals, costuming, and producing the performance. Dancers must provide their own tights, shoes, undergarments, leotard.

REGISTER IN CLASS ON TUESDAY, JANUARY 21!

Participants must commit to ALL dates for rehearsal and performance.  1-2 missed classes or rehearsal is understandable.  Multiple missed dates may result in a change in their participation, including being removed from the performance if too many are missed.

Dress Code and Studio Policies for Adult Dance

DRESS CODE FOR ADULT DANCE: Form-fitting athletic wear, such as tights or leggings, a leotard or fitted top, long hair secured back. Ballet shoes for ballet class, socks recommended for modern. Socks, dance shoes, or shoes with non-marking clean leather soles for ballroom. Please follow traditional ballet etiquette by being on time, refraining from interrupting class, and wearing appropriate clothing (no bare midriffs).

POLICIES FOR ADULT BALLET: Adult Dance consists of individual drop-in classes. A liability waiver must be filled out and submitted at the studio prior to taking one's first class. Make-up classes are not offered for the Adult Dance program, unless otherwise specified. Classes follow the KDA Schedule, and there will be no Adult Dance during studio breaks and holidays unless otherwise specified. KDA reserves the right to cancel, postpone, or change the schedule for all Adult Dance Classes.

Additional Class Descriptions (not offered at this time)

INTERMEDIATE/ADVANCED BALLET: A true open class that follows the traditional format of barre and center, this class is suitable for both lifelong and returning dancers. Participants are welcome to adapt steps and enchainments to their own individual needs in this safe space for movers of all ages and levels.

INTERMEDIATE/ADVANCED MODERN: Geared for those with dance experience, this 90-minute class uses a variety of floor phrases, somatic exercises, choreography, and improvisation to challenge dancers' minds and bodies.

BARRE FITNESS: A combination class with the upbeat music of Zumba, the strength of Pilates, and the targeted muscle groups of ballet! No dance experience is required for this hi-rep, low-impact, full body workout.

CONTEMPORARY: A blend of ballet, jazz, and modern, Contemporary is the class for those who love to dance!

BALLROOM: KDA hosts ballroom classes for singles and couples.
