Placement Information

New students joining KDA’s Intermediate or Advanced Levels (Ballet IIA and above) must attend an assessment class OR submit a video for placement into our program.

Videos should be no more than 10 minutes in length. Both studio videos and home videos are acceptable, and should offer a clear view of the student’s feet, legs, and torso.

VIDEO REQUIREMENTS:

FOR ALL AGES: Plie, tendu, degage, grand battement, eleve/releve, center practice, petit allegro. FOR AGES 10+, ADD: Rond de jambe, fondu, developpe, pirouette en dehors/en dedans, grand allegro. FOR POINTE TRAINED DANCERS: Please include exercises that demonstrate your training en pointe thus far

We also accept videos of a dancer’s most recent performance, as long as your dancer is clearly recognizable. If sending a performance video, please also include a photograph of the dancer in: plie 1st position, tendu a la seconde, 1st arabesque en l’air, and retire deviant.
